Calling all budding local songwriters: we want you to help us release a new Christmas song for Sunderland.
As well as inspiring hope and joy across Wearside throughout the holiday season, you’ll also be supporting a vital local cause and helping tackle child poverty in the area.

How to enter
Send your entry using WeTransfer to marty.longstaff@musiccity.uk.
You can send us your song as an audio file or a video.
If you don’t play an instrument, don’t worry; you can submit your song lyrics as a text document, and if your entry is chosen, the musicians at Birdland Studios will help you put them to music.
Make sure you include your name, age, address, and a brief description of your song in the WeTransfer message.

What's up for grabs
- A free recording session at Sunderland’s Birdland Studios with The Futureheads’ own Barry Hyde on the production desk
- Song engineering, mixing and mastering by experts at NAME and Birdland Studios, who've kindly donated their time for this project
- Your song will be performed at Music Against Child Poverty LIVE at The Fire Station on 8th December 2024, raising funds for Love, Amelia
- You'll also be featured in advertising and marketing campaigns for Sunderland Music City as we bid for Music City status
You will of course retain full rights in perpetuity to your work.
